Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glassner has revealed the referee made a mistake in disallowing Eberechi Eze’s free-kick in their 2-1 defeat to Brentford.
Palace almost took the lead in the 26th minute. When they were awarded a free kick on the right and Eberechi Ese curled a shot around the wall and into the near post. However, VAR checked before the referee blew the whistle for a foul on a home player in the penalty area by Will Hughes, disallowing Palace from the goal. UFABET
After the game, Glassner spoke to Eze before the England winger said referee Sam Barrott had admitted. He had made a mistake in calling the foul.
“I think everyone was surprised that the referee blew the whistle so early. But I’m not going to complain about it because the decision was made.” Glassner said.
As for the referee’s admission of a mistake in this incident. Glassner said: “It shows he (the referee) has character and is a good person. We can always find excuses. Part of the game is to make mistakes. He’s a great guy to say. ‘Yeah, I made a mistake.’
“I made a mistake today too. It shows what a great person he is to say he made a mistake. But it doesn’t change anything.”
